Earth's biosphere with its varied ecosystems is more complex than assessed or envisioned by Charles Darwin in 1836. Unfortunately, modern scientific information about the biodiversity of our planet was not available when he wrote the Origin of Species. Darwin saw life as a struggle between species, with the fittest surviving. He concluded that natural selection was the "driving force" for the evolution of species. In reality, the continuity of life on the planet revolves around entire species dynamically supporting other species within ecosystems, not competing for their own survival and causing harm to others. Darwin was certain that if such a scenario existed in nature, of species supporting other species "for the good" through any type of modification, it would "annihilate" or totally destroy his theory of evolution by natural selection. Cosmic Delusions explains why Charles Darwin correctly identified a major problem with his theory of evolution.
