Are we all different shades of Black ( Brown / Orange)? With Black History Month fast approaching – as it does every October. Are we all just a shade of black, skin deep based on our Melanin. Black History Month is every October. But it wasn't always so. But there was a strong presence of black people or 'BLACKAMOOR' ( depicted a black man) who worked Europe as far back as the 15th -16th centuries. Africans were already known to have likely been living in Roman Britain as soldiers, slaves or even free men and women. Blackamoor is also known as a type of figure in European decorative art from the Early Modern period, depicting a black man. This had a negative connation. Common examples of items and objects decorated in the blackamoor style include sculpture, jewellery, and furniture. Typically the sculpted figures carried something, such as candles or a tray. Hence are we all black under the skin?
