Who Is Your Target Audience? (part 3 of 3)

Know Your Audience

For some of you, a light may be turning on in your head.

If so, then I hope you feel like you are getting some valuable information :)

You may be wondering:

For my next book, would it be a good idea to have my target audience in mind before I even start writing?

I would say: yes. Absolutely. You should definitely have an audience in mind before you start. Here's why: If you know your target audience before you start, everything will be easier -- both writing and marketing.

Many famous authors have a person in mind such as their sister (Kurt Vonnegut) or another family member or close friend. I'm no famous author, but I clearly remember needing a lot of help when I first started marketing my titles. So in a way, I'm writing for my younger self.

I sincerely hope that sharing my experience and marketing strategies will help you achieve your goals.

Conclusion

In my opinion, knowing your target audience is the first step in marketing your book. Hopefully this will spark some ideas and help you develop a clear idea of who will benefit the most from reading your book. Those who benefit the most are your target audience.
